An Act of Kindness.

My sister Archita Jallan goes about most things quietly😊. And she will probably be angry with me for this post, but this is a story I heard yesterday and must be told!

Archita had to take an autorickshaw (‘auto’) for some work in the neighbourhood. The auto owner whilst not overtly aggressive seemed to be in a hurry. Archita stopped a while at a shop gesturing an apology, the auto owner gestured back a placating sign indicating it was all ok. It was nearer the destination, the auto owner apologised for seeming hurried.

“I have adopted a girl who is getting married today at 4 PM- the Maulvi is waiting- I have to buy rice and vegetables for Biryani (chicken being provided by someone else)”. 60 bucks was the fare.

Archita mentioned she wanted to help, except for money, which she didn’t have to spare. She requested the auto owner to indulge her for 5 minutes more, ran upstairs, picked out a brand new sari, bangles, hair clips, a face wash, whatever she could find, threw them into a gift bag and ran downstairs to give them to the auto owner.

The auto owner, with tears in his eyes said, “I will ask my daughter to wear this Sari today”.

I am overwhelmed.
